Travelling

Phetchaburi is located abour 160 kilometers to the south-west of Bangkok. For those who would like to expereince traveling on Thai transportation system, there are many types of transpot to Phetchaburi; by bus, by train, by car or big motorbike. Generally private travelers take Highway route 35 (Phra Ram 2 road) from Bangkok, which takes about 1 and 1/2 hours to Phetchaburi and 2 hours to Cha-am. In past decades, the main road, Highway route 4, was the only one access to Phetchaburi, but now it becomes a roundabout way that takes about 3 hours or more from BKK to Phetchaburi.

By bus from Bangkok:

There are buses leaving regularly from the Southern Bus Terminal in Thonburi (Talingchan) for about 120 baht (first-class) on the new Rama II Highway. Backpackers are advised not ot take any bus that takes the old road (Phetkasem Road route 4 via Ratchaburi and Nakhon Pathom) to reach the destination because it is boring to waste their time.
